Blue Jays get Jose Reyes, Mark Buerhle in monster trade!!

The Toronto Blue Jays have solved their dilemmas at shortstop and on the mound in a monster 12-player swap with the Miami Marlins.

The Jays have acquired shortstop Jose Reyes, starting pitcher Josh Johnson, starting pitcher Mark Buerhle, catcher John Buck and utility player Emilio Bonifacio in exchange for shortstop Yunel Escobar, starting pitcher Henderson Alvarez, catcher Jeff Mathis, infielder Adeiny Hechavarria, pitcher Justin Nicolino, outfielder Jake Marisnick and another minor-leaguer.

Very good move by Anthopolos though. I can see him making at least one more move to turn Buck (or Arencibia) into one more solid starter to bolster the rotation.

The 2013 Blue Jays just might be a force to be reckoned with. A new star SS and solid rotation, the return of a healthy Joey Bats, Ricky Romero coming back from surgery looking to redeem himself, possibly another All Star-caliber season from Edwin Encarnacion as well as Sanchez and Syndergarden approaching in the horizon. *Shudders*
This move'll definitely help put Toronto on the radar of some of this year's better free agents like Greinke and Sanchez. If the Jays get either of those guys I just might start worrying about them being better than the Yankees, on paper.

The AL East in 2013 was already going to be crazy as the Rays still have their retarded pitching rotation, the Orioles showed the world that they can fuck up reality in 2012 and the Yankees, well they're the Yankees lol. The Blue Jays had a pretty good core that made them a team that you wouldn't want to face that just got a whole lot better. But unless AA makes another move to get some more pitching depth or maybe another power bat, they pretty much just went from the 4th best team in the division to the 2nd or 3rd best. Which says a lot about the AL East as the only team that looks like it won't be contending (for now at least) is Boston.
I expect AA to make one more move though as now Toronto can at least make themselves look more like a legit contender and can attract a couple of good free agents that probably wouldn't have considered going to Toronto before this deal was made as they still have a hole in LF & 2nd and they could use a few more arms.

As for the Marlins, appearently their fire-sale is still going on as they're shopping around Ricky Nolasco and Logan Morrison now. But I expect that they'll get a lot of calls from around the league for Giancarlo "Don't Call Me Mike" Stanton. With all the salary they've freed up the ideal trade scenario for me (and almost every Yankees fan) is if a A-Rod for Stanton trade went down.
