Jose Calderon agreed to a four-year, $29 million contract with the Mavericks on Friday night.
The Mavericks cleared out cap space for the second year in a row for Deron Williams last year and Dwight Howard this year, but they failed to cash in on either one. Even at 32 years old, Calderon is the best true point guard left on the UFA market and the Mavericks desperately need one. He would have great fantasy value with the Mavs and they would also have to push the tempo in an effort to offset their likely defensive issues.
