Tupac's Mom Sues for $1.1 Million Rap Money Is Mine!

You haven't met a protective mother until you've met Tupac's mom ... she's now suing over unpaid royalties stemming from the late rapper's posthumous album ... to the tune of $1.1 million.

Afeni Shakur -- the co-administrator of Tupac's estate -- filed the lawsuit against a company called Entertainment One, claiming it breached a contract to pay Tupac's estate royalties on "Beginnings: The Lost Tapes," which was released in June 2007.

According to the suit, E1 purchased the rights to Tupac's music (previously owned by Death Row Records) in July. FYI, Death Row went bankrupt in 2006.
Afeni claims E1 now owes Tupac's estate $1.1 million ... and it better pony up fast. She also wants E1 to hand over the master recordings of all Tupac's unreleased music.

Hell hath no fury like a mother scorned. Calls to E1 weren't returned.

R.I.P DEATHROW RECORDS

Why do I have no recollection of this release whatsoever? I do recall an earlier "Lost Tapes" put out by one of those unauthorized labels who had all his early Strictly Dope recordings.

Yeah, that was the one that was later released by Amaru. That was after the original pressings were no longer available because (I think) Amaru was planning to sue or did sue. The originally pressed ones are the one released without Amaru's permission and an agreement was reached later. That's how it was released officially by Amaru.

Im have a lot of respect for Afeni but all she is doing is hurting the fans, especially by wanting all the master tapes.
Amaru has done nothing but destroy 2Pac's legacy over the years.

Another label may use those masters to create a genuine sounding 2Pac album but instead it will go to Amaru
and all we will get is a watered down Pac album trying to make it into the Pop charts and featuring artists like
Rihanna, Drake, Lil Wayne etc.....depressing!!

this....hence why cats Pac loved hate dealing with her like Spice 1 and Naughty by Nature.  Both tried releasing songs with Pac and got shut down.  Luckily the song Spice had was previously released but the one NBN had is still unleaked.

Should have let Suge have that. Say what you want but up until he got slapped with a lawsuit that prevented him releasing any new unheard music, he was putting out "Who Do U Believe in", "Late Night", "Friends" and "Thug Nature" to as close to the original as possible, and those 4 tracks demonstrated just how Death Row would have handled his music if not hindered by silly legal orders, and shat on anything put out by Amaru.

Had Death Row been left alone to release a full albums worth of 2Pac's like they had planned, that would have been polished up nicely. Unfortunately, what we got thanks to Amaru was Death Row only being able to re-release published music, which is why we got the remix albums. Which really wouldn't have been so bad if Amaru were permitting the better unreleased product but they weren't.

Thanks to Death Row for giving us the true original material though in the form of bootlegs
