If USC didn't have a bye this coming weekend, maybe they'd have kept him (at least until they had another bye, assuming that he kept things going at the same pace), since it would've been a difficult adjustment for the team to get used to a whole new coach and whatever type of game he'd want them to run, all within a week, especially with the teams that they have to face next (Arizona, ND, Oregon State, Cal, Stanford, Colorado and UCLA), most of which are teams that they're not going to have an easy time with and can't exactly be testing out a new approach with that they had barely started practicing.

Lose-lose situation though, regardless.  They kept Kiffin, they'd still be running shitty plays and likely be getting beatdown.  What we'll probably see is the team adjusting to something fairly new and likely being faced with whatever learning curve they have in catching their stride, so who knows if they'll suffer right off the bat because of it.  But at least the USC fanbase is happy... though it's weird that in the 2011-2012 season, everyone was in love with him when they went 10-2 (I think?) and killed UCLA 50-0.
