Brett Favre turns down Rams (lmao)

Desperation?

The St. Louis Rams approached Brett Favre about coming out of retirement, but the 44-year-old former quarterback turned them down, FOX Sports NFL Insider Alex Marvez confirms.

Favre came out of retirement in 2008 and was traded from the Packers to the Jets. He signed with the Vikings as a free agent in 2009 and called it quits after the 2010 season.

The Rams are seeking a replacement for starting quarterback Sam Bradford, who was placed on injured reserve after suffering a knee injury.

Favre threw for 71,838 yards and 508 touchdowns – both NFL records -- during his 20-year career and was named to the Pro Bowl 11 times.

Brett will only go to a contender. If Drew Brees went down tomorrow, he'd be in New Orleans by Sunday.

Steve Deberg played for the Atlanta Falcons at age 44.  I don't know why it made everyone so pissed off that Brett kept coming back.  I think it would be awesome to see Farve go back out there at 44

I'd probably take him easy over a 1/3 of the league's starters. Possibly close to half.

In reality, jumping in the league halfway through the season after not playing all this time would probably end badly. But if you got him before the preseason started, I'd have to give him a shot.

Did you see him in his last year in Minnesota? Dude was completely broken down, even he admitted that. He would get destroyed.

I believe that if you're gonna retire, RETIRE!  No coming back a lot.  Heck, I didn't blame Green Bay for trading him.  They got tired of Favre's inconsistent mood swings.  He was copying Magic, & Roger Clemens & others with the retiring & coming back too much.

I'm glad you realized it was an example, everyone else loves to think everyone does comparisons.  I was probably tired when I typed magic.  There been other people who kept coming back & retiring.  I might have thought of Damon Wayans skit in his stand up in the mid 90's.   :-[
Mabye I shoulda went with this.  I did feel deserted when Jordan retired in 93 & then had 2 come back in 95.  I felt he shoulda played 1 more year then retire.  And then his 2nd retirement.  And another comeback with the wizards.

I thought Jordan's comeback with the wizards was still dope, he was still feeding it to teams for 40. He just didn't have the cast around him. If he got in shape today he'd probably still average 12-15 at 50.

That cast wasn't great, but he was just a bad fit there too. Those were young athletic that did better with the up-tempo type offense, but with Jordan and his bad knees they had to slow it down for him. Dude also just didn't really get along with anyone there, there were stretches when they played better when he was injured. Not saying he couldn't have been effective elsewhere but coming to the Wizards was a horrible move in retrospect.

People were angry cause Favre kept indicating he was going to retire than changing his mind in the offseason.
