Media pandering... LMFAO! I was all about this before it was even cool to be on this. Back when even Democrats were seen with Indian hats in Cleveland and Redskins jerseys in DC. The media is just covering what we were saying for 20 years. Are they pandering, I have no idea. I think they are just covering it because a lady actually made a lawsuit. It made this issue news.
And don't get it twisted, skin color does change your prospective on how you see thing. I remember the first time after my dad told me about my Native American and Mexican background, and I went outside and played cowboy and indians. Now no one EVER wants to be the indians. So when we broke off to teams, I was so confused because it was the first time I wanted to be the indian, but then I know I was going to lose because how is my plastic bow and arrow gonna beat a cap gun. It changed it all up, how you see things. So don't get it twisted man.

Russ, why are you so hellbent on seeing the name stay? I don't pretend to know what everyone's opinion on the issue is, but if natives actually see the name as demeaning I don't see why they shouldn't consider changing it.
