But the young kid was placing the date seed next to where the Prophet was placing them.
So he jokingly said 2 our beloved Prophet. "Look at the ammount of date seeds you have, you must be very hungry "
The Prophet replied: I am, but you are more hungry because you ate the dates with seeds and all, you have no seeds left in font of you.

No, the Quran is not like other religious scriptures.
For Example:
The Bible contains the words of Prophets, Words of G-d, History, Letters. it is a collection of different books.
The Quran contains only they words of G_d. That is why it is forbidden for us to touch it if we are (spiritual) unclean.
The sayings of the Prophet, are separate books.
Stories and interpretation are separate books.
And islamic History is separate books.

We have a spirtual cleaning. where we wash ourselfs. It is called Wudu.. And it is obligatory before prayers and if you want 2 touch the Quran.
But no there is no book with jokes.
