MLB Report: Cardinals And Angels Swap David Freese For Peter Bourjos

I can't believe Fernando Salas was the deal breaker, why the hell would Angels take that guy.

This was a risky player for risky player trade. Bourjos is great but is injured all the time. Meanwhile Freese went on an inexplicable decline like none other and became sorry as hell. I feel like Angels lose the trade when it's all said and done, I have a gut feeling there's a higher chance of Bourjos being healthy for a season than Freese returning to form. Then again, the 3rd base market is so weak that I suppose Angels need to take what they can get.

This worries me for the Dodgers. Uribe only performs in contract years and I know Uribe won't take a one year deal with us. Hopefully we can score a trade for Headley, we've been after that dude since before he even blew up lol.

Personally I think the Angels already kind of lost because they could not accomplish their most dire need, improving their starting rotation. Ever since last year Peter Bourjos was linked to a lot of teams that could send the Angels some very good starting pitching (or at the very least someone who's better than Joe fucking Blanton) and the Angels got back a 3rd baseman and a guy who couldn't keep his job against a few rookies (a few talented ones at that though). Even worse is that Jason Vargas is no longer available. They should probably go for Phil Hughes ;D.

As for what this means for the Dodgers, I have no idea. They could resign Uribe, they could maybe take a shot on Mark Reynolds or they might trade for a 3rd baseman. The Ethier, Kemp and Puig logjam in the OF has completely blocked Joc Peterson who could get you quite a return, possibly one better than Chase Headley who had a pretty down year in 2013 and is kind of undervalued. BTW, I suspect the demand for 3rd baseman will get even more higher and expensive in the upcoming months as the A-Rod mess continues and the Yankees start looking for options at 3rd base.

I agree about the starting pitching. Angels just wasted one of their most prized trading chips for a 3rd baseman. There's still Trumbo, who has potentially more trade value than Bourjos, but I didn't think Angels would part with BOTH, and now they might have to because these idiots didn't solve their pitching woes. But who knows, maybe they have some grand plan that we don't know of when it comes to pitching.

Lol, after the season Uribe had and seeing how Mark Reynolds has performed the past couple seasons, getting Reynolds sounds like SUCH a downgrade. But then I look at Uribe's two seasons before his contract year, and there is no way any Dodger fan will be content in a long term deal with him ever again, despite his heroics this year. But you're right about the demand on third basemen, and the funny part about it is that there aren't too many quality third basemen left to get signed or traded. If we can score bigger than Headley, I'm all for it, but I don't know who else is out there lol.

And I think Dodgers might HAVE to trade Joc Pederson since I don't think anybody even wants Kemp or Ethier anymore without us eating their entire contracts, and Dodgers ain't trading Puig unless they can score like a Jose Fernandez in return lol. Which would be dope as fuck.

I can definitely see Trumbo being moved for starting pitching, although I'm guessing that whoever the Angels get back will disappoint their fans greatly lol.

And while I don't see a deal happening I did hear rumors about how Seattle was interested in trading for Kemp. Obviously the Dodgers would have to eat most of his contract (as you said) but the Dodgers could get a nice prospect in return.
