It's just the simple principal Kobe had the option of getting two really good free agents or load up for retirement and only get one max player.
You can sit here and slice it and dice it about whether he's worth it or can win without the second player or whether he'll live up to the contract or be healthy for it....bottom line is that he was selfish.
