why? because they're fairweather bandwaggon fans??

The Clippers saw a huge surge in fans when CP3 showed up, but there's always been a consistent base of Clipper fans. Their attendance their first 2 years in Staples was bad, but since then it rose much higher. It stayed consistent at almost 17K until Paul showed up. Since then, they are actually beating the Lakers with an average of just over 19K (Lakers are just under this in that time period). So, no, not bandwagon fans. Just people who like a team.

clipper tickets are a thousand times cheaper than laker tickets.....fact of the matter is, the term "clipper fan" was an oxymoron up until recently.

Most my friends in California who are Clipper fans also have LeBron jerseys, use to be Bulls fans and Cavs fans in the 2000's. Now they talk about Lob City. Most I know also grew up in California and hated the Lakers, so there is this sense that they've always wanted an alternative to the Lakers, but will they still be Clipped fans in 5 years?

Is there any way that LA is supposed to be divided geographically in terms of Lakers/Clippers? Most places it would be East and West or some shit but they play in the same damn stadium.

Typical of Laker fans. Always trying to find a way to take the Clippers down. It's funny but Laker fans talk about the Clippers way more than the Clipper fans talk about the Lakers.

The Clippers area is more the Westside of L.A., Orange County and down to San Diego. The rest of L.A., San Fernando, San Gabriel & Inland areas are the Lakers spots. Of course there's fans of both all over though, but this is what I've heard as the designated areas for each team.

Well it's easy to talk about Clipper fans because they were the same guys I was debating in the 90's over Michael Jordan verse Magic Johnson, in the 2000's with Kobe vs. LeBron and every one of them were Laker haters from the start. Non of them were Clippers fans then, but now their Facebook profile pics are of either CP3, them in a Lob City shirt or they have a Clipper banner. But 5 years ago, they were the ones that said, I don't have a favorite team, I follow players. THOSE are the Clipper fans right now.

As for geography, let's also keep it real, most of SoCal is Lakers, no matter were you are at. You are more likely to run into Clipper fans in OC because they almost moved to the Pound, but OC is still majority Lakers fans. In SD, the Clippers did play there along time ago, and there are a few fans there. I've never seen Santa Monica and that area as a big Clipper area. I know most are Laker fans, who I know, because the Lakers use to play in Inglewood and their practice facilities are there. So this Westside LA being Clipper area is news to me.

But most all of SoCal is mainly Lakers, it's just areas that have more Clipper fans than usual, like maybe up to 40% Clipper fans.

That's incorrect. I am Clipper fan myself. Since 1993. I never was a Jordan fan. What you are talking about IS the bandwagon fans. I know a lot of Clipper fans who DO NOT fit your profile that you've laid out. What I can tell you is that the Lakers have many more bandwagon fans than the Clippers. I've spoke to so many Laker fans who don't know shut outside of the past Decade. If they haven't seen it on Time Warner, they don't know about it. As far as geographics. Every team is given an area by the league this is the area that I heard was carved for the Clippers/Lakers. The league wants each team to have a fan base, hence the division.

this is completely false..u ever listen to sports radio?? the only thing clipper fans ever talk about is how they run LA and have overtaken the Lakers. Lakers never even mention Clippers, unless it's brought up.

this is somewhat true- there are more clipper fans in the OC and San Diego than most other places...but there are still more Laker fans than Clipper fans anywhere u go.

710 ESPN is a Laker homer station. The callers are the first ones to bring up the Clippers. In The rare occasion that a Clipper fan gets through, it's to defend the team. Look around on blogs, news stories, Facebook, Twitter... anywhere sports discussion take place. Laker fans are the 1st to bring up the Clippers. It's just the truth.

And if you believe there are more Clipper bandwagon fans than Lakers then I don't know what to tell you. If you truly believe that, more power to you. I'll give you a quote I was told by a Laker fan recently "my knowledge on the team does not stretch out beyond this season and last." This kid was fighting me to death on a topic we were discussing in regards to the Lakers. He identifies himself as a Laker fan.

for every 1 laker fan that only knows about the lakers previous 2 seasons, there are 10 clipper fans just the same...

maybe if u consider the fact that there are millions of laker fans world-wide and only thousands of clipper fans, then yea, there are more cats on the lakers bandwaggon.....but in terms of ratio, its not even close.

I'm not talking volume. I am talking ratio. I talk to 40-50 people a day. All in Southern California from San Diego to Pasadena. Sports is a constant topic and so often these "Laker" fans know nothing. When I encounter a Clipper fan, sometimes it's bandwagon but many times they're dropping names like Piatkowski, Vaught, Harper, Etc. I know a real Laker fan when they name check someone other than Fisher, Kobe, Pau or Shaq. That happens far less than you may think.

The only thing smart about LA is their ability to grasp that the NFL is a criminal enterprise and they refuse to bow to their mobster like behavior.

i'm willing to bet you good money that only about 1% of clipper fans would recognize the name piatowski.
