Well, well, well....Arsenal aren't God's gift after all
« on: March 19, 2003, 04:49:09 PM »
I'm not going to say I told you so but....

Men from boys.
Protest that you had the hardest group.
Protest Ajax played defensive football (to quote Arsene)

Arsenal have learnt nothing from their years of Champions League football, have advanced nowhere.

Have you ever won the treble? Have you fuck.

You started to believe the inane London media drivel.  Fabio Capello told you you were the best team in Europe - it must be true!

Arsenal FC - Not good enough in Europe, not even on Manchester United's level in Europe.  We learn this back in 94 when we were dominating the Prem and assumed that if we played exactly the same in Europe we'd be victorious. (of course we had the foreigner restriction)

I'm pitying you again, and the fact is I told you this was going to happen (check the old threads).  Pay attention:

ARSENAL FOOTBALL CLUB ARE NOT A GREAT TEAM UNTIL THEY DOMINATE LIKE WE DOMINATED.  Therfore YOU WILL NEVER BE A GREAT TEAM.

1 win 4 draws and a loss - disgraceful for a team who are all MOUTH.

Ever won the treble Sol?

Blah blah blah blah you've become well predictable. Hows that quadruple coming along?? lmfao.

I'm proud of the lads, we went to the Mestella and outplayed Valencia, they came to Highbury and played 11 men behind the ball, just like Ajax and Roma did, the difference in the end was 2 mistakes (against Roma, Valencia) from Pascal Cygan that cost us the group. We should've gone further but our squad is young and we'll be back again next year. We have long term goals. (Henry's goal was world class)

I cant deny it hurts but we'll move on and should complete the double, double.

Now thats got to be the biggest load of bullshit i've heard. Every one knows that Valencia was the better team and deserved to win.

Damn gooners, always full of shit.

Matthew Upson anyone?

Great young talent. Cygan must be loving Wengers decisions to overlook English talent and just go for the frogs.

Everyone knows? do they bollocks, they outplayed us for the last 20 minutes of the first half and for about 15 minutes of the second, both periods came after they scored. Even the fucking Sun admitted we were "unlucky to lose".

Logic's on point, although Matty's been shite for Birmingham since he left us, he's a bit better then Cygan.

Actually Sol, if you read the Sun properly today, especially Steven Howard's column, they concluded that while last night could have gone either way, Arsenal didn't deserve to progress.

"Yes, they started the Champions League with three successive victories but, in true pretenders style, they ended with just one win in nine and a final run of four draws and a defeat"

"Astonishingly enough for a side managed by Wenger, they have not learnt from their mistakes"

You see Joachim, we experienced this.  When we went out in 94, after beating Galatasaray 4 - 0, we protested that we truly were good enough to win the Champions League, because our football was so good, we went for goals all the time, we loved to attack.  You can get away with this in the Premiership, we did it for 2 years in a row 99-00, 00-01, because we were pretty comfortable in the knowledge that there were now teams anywhere near our level attack wise and were not defensively at the level to be effective in counter attacking tactics.  But, I'm afraid, the Champions League is not this utopia where everybody attacks all the time, and matches are somehow 'fair' in Wengers eyes because attack is used from both sides.  When teams are looking for 3 wins at home and three draws away the fact is teams who are secure in the knowledge that there defence is very good are going to turn up at Highbury and defend, defend, defend.  This is not Richard Dunne, Sylvain Distin and Steve Howey, backed up by Carlo Nash.  The teams you compete against have fully competent defences.  Wenger has consistently been unable to figure out tactics to use when presented a situation like that.

You have to address your problems, not write everything off as Spanish cheats, defensive blah blah blah.  This is what teams are going to do to try and win on the TOP level.  I assume that you will have noticed that the quality of the matches in terms of watchability that we are having this season and last are down.  Our matches on a whole are not goal feasts like they used to be, although 5 -3 vs Newcastle was a return to "You score goals, we'll score one more than you".  This is because Fergie decided after Bayern Munich knocked us out of the European Cup at the Quarter Final stage very easily in 2000, that if, ultimately Manchester United under Fergie are to be remembered as one of the top 5 club sides ever, we have to win the European Cup twice.  One man up front fucking gets on my fucking tits when we are lining up against some Mickey Mouse Man City defence.  This is the way we now play however, because it is a very effective way of playing in Europe.  The Premiership is very tactically rigid, every man plays his position, the team that has the best players in each attacking position will usually find a level of success.  However in Europe players have to be able to rotate during the game.  Giggs in behind the Ruud, Seba goes out left, Scholes drops back is the DREAM, and when it works, it fucking works.  The nature of the prem doesn't allow it to work very often and I pray that Fergie realises this in the run in and we see more Ole.

This is very long winded but the conclusion is that Europe is a whole nother ball game.  It is the highest quality of football on the planet, technically and tactically.  Arsenal demonstrated that faced with teams like PSV, who didn't have the no - how, the stampede of fantastic attacking works.  But for the fifth year in a row, Arsene Wenger and 'the boys' demonstrated that when they were prsented with something different, they couldn't cope.  And I have tried to tell you this (perhaps not in the same detail) for a while. (Check the old threads).  The worrying thing for you is that Wenger hasn't shown in any of his post match analysis that he saw any mistakes in the way Arsenal played in the Champions League whatsoever.

I personally hope you will well and truly fall apart, starting with perhaps a result for Everton and a loss at Stamford Bridge, but we'll see.  One thing is for sure:  Do not kid yourself that you have made progress in Europe, or will make progress in Europe.  This was the finest Arsenal team ever, and you were pure pretenders in Europe, and mouthy ones at that.

We'll be in the quarters representing England yet again, for an historic seventh year in a row.  We have the respect of Europe as a true heavyweight.  You do not.

Ps. Fuck the scousers ha ha ha See you later you bastards, how's the ticker Gerard

My math tutor, he's a Gooner. And he agreed that the other night showed that Arsenal weren't ready for Europe yet.

He also said that it prvoed Manchester United had strength in depth, in that their youth team + Ryan Giggs played a very tough game versus Deportivo, the Spanish champions.

Man Utd have been out of sorts, but even now, they have every chance to win the league. And they progressed further in the League Cup than Arsenal.

I'm off to pray Steve Staunton and Dion Dublin never get sent off again.

Steven Howard = Hypocritical cunt.

I cant be bothered to read all that right now, however theres no denying Arsenal are not ready to win the Euopean Cup, we lack quality cover for our defence (Cygan and Igors, christ), if we rectify that with a Hofland/Mexes/Senderos/Tony Adams clone we'll have a squad capable of competing in Europe/Premiership/FA Cup simultaneously.

I'll reply in full later, i've had a mad rough night/morning.

Peace.

First of all Owen "The Double" is winning the League and the FA Cup.

The last time Villa won the FA Cup was 1957 when they fucking robbed it from us

They won the European Cup in 1981-82 but they didn't win the league with it so just fuck off and watch Mario Lemieux or whoever he is you're out of your depth talking about football (sorry soccer lol)

The double is any other trophy with the League.

Sure, I'll leave this thread, and continue playing in goal for WBA youth. Did I mention, I've talked to Gary Megson about senior tactics? I love being a genius.
