DJ Quik is WITHOUT QUESTION a genius. If Quik is not a genius, then no one in hip hop is a genius. Fuck that shit.

Quik = Genius
Tupac = Genius

Other people come close, but these two are the only true geniuses in rap music in my opinion.

It's funny how there's a thread every month here saying Quik ain't that good. The only reason these threads emerge is that so many people here accurately appraise Quik's talent, and this riles up the haters. Niggas go and listen to Under The Influence, hear a couple wack songs, then get worked up and deny that Quik is a genius...come on now, that's madness. Quik is the greatest producer in the history of hip hop and one of the greatest rappers as well.

I fully support Quik and any of the heavywieght West Coast artist that really made the West Coast what it was.  So I would never argue with someone over Quik's greatness.  If you all love Quik and think he's great and he's a genius then I am all for that.

I'm just saying in my opinion I think he was dope but not legendary.  He ain't on a level of somebody like Daz, for example.   Daz is the greatest rapper/producer combo ever.  But if ya'll love Quik and think he's a genius than I give you props for that.

Daz is nowhere near close to a level of Quik. Nothing Daz did on All Eyes On Me comes close to Hearts Of Men and Safe & Sounds shits on Daz's whole career. & that's not like I'm dissin Daz kuz I like his shit but c'mon bruh. Without Dre/Quik/Mike Dean mixing or Soopafly on the keys, ghost producing and/or co-producing dude shit is borderline garbage. Listen to those Nutso interviews from a month or so ago he breaks down pretty much Daz's role on them Death Row productions, lay the basic drum loop & the musicians come in and make the songs what they were. Quik on the other hand his shit bang with or without musicians, co-producers. Now like the op I wouldn't say genius but I will say Quik>>>>>>>>>>Daz any day of the year.

Daz is the greatest artist/producer of all-time? It's not a disrespect to him because he is definitely talented but that statement is overblown to me. He's great with the beats when he's on but when it comes to producing the whole package, Dr Dre and DJ Quik are those guys. When they oversee a project, the concept through and through is put together meticulously. Even if Dre doesn't do the beats on every album, the production standard is enforced. Same with Quik.

Daz is capable of being a great producer but he's more hustler than Dre or Quik. He sees music as a way of creating revenue and some of his releases fall victim to that. He'll put out three or four albums in a calendar year where Quik or Dre don't do music when their heart is not in the mode to create.

I am probably one of the biggest dj quik fans I know,  and would listen to any song no matter which one and would be happy. But, his best shit by far was when he was working with g one and also rob bacon.  Yeah he is good without them, but with them he is great!
