I have the 20th anniversary dvd of robocop. You listen to the actors in it, that movie was ahead of its time. I never thought people would be using a card to enter a room & it happened 4 years later in las vegas hotels. Example. Different people coulda played a certain character too. NO remake needed.
Positive: the story is different from the original. The wife isn't a widow, she knows its her husband in the armor. Different enemies. At 1st when I heard samuel jackson was in it, I thought he would either be the sargent reed or joey cox-villain. I might watch it when its on hbo. I felt it was a disservice to the people who were in the original doing an unnecessary remake.

No. It was just a cheap remake, based on a subject that relates to the way American police are becoming. More "robotic" in nature, more destructive, less sympathetic etc. That was the purpose for it's release, like all Hollywood movies. Independence day was out to help provide a larger NASA budget (mars, and jupiter explorations) The Day After Tomorrow was put out to help legitimize the BS "man made global warming" theory, to help defraud through global green taxes.
