Royals make two bad (cost-cutting moves) and one good move to finish offseason..

If your not a Royals fan or diehard MLB fan you probably won't care about this. But I'm so hyped for the Royals season to start I'm going to post anyways.
The Royals made one good move and two bad (cost-cutting) moves to round out the offseason. Its too bad our stingy owner forced the GM to do these moves, and couldn't spare a couple more million. The owner says he's tapped out and doesn't have any money left, so we are stuck at a 90 million dollar payroll. Here's what went down..
-The good move. The Royals re-signed Bruce Chen!! Chen is a fucking awesome lefty. Very under-rated. He's pretty much as good as Vargas and his numbers prove it. They signed him back at a bargain deal of around 4 million. He can pitch out of the pen or in the rotation and is solid in either role. He's also a great clubhouse guy and just a cool guy to follow on the team.
-THE BAD MOVES. Well, unfortunately since the GM wanted to sign Chen he had to find a way to cut 4 million from the payroll. Earlier he had cut one of the best back-up catchers in the league, and fan-favorite George Kottaras. This guy was fucking awesome. He either hit homeruns, walked, or struck out. Nearly every at bat. He had more walks than our starting catcher and yet he only played like 20 games!!! LMAO!! He had big-time power, he could pinch hit and knock the shit out of a ball or at least draw a walk. I loved the guy.
Even worse than cutting our back-up catcher was THEY FUCKIN CUT EMILIO BANAFACIO!! FUCK!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!! THIS SUCKS!!!!!!! Banafacio was such an exciting player, probably the fastest guy in the whole league. HE COULD PLAY ANY NON-BATTERY POSITION!! This means if any player went on the DL he could of filled in well, or been an excellent pinch-runner off the bench. He played great for the Royals after they picked him up in the second half last year. Whichever team picks this guy up is really gonna get a huge bargain. Just watch, this guy will crack the starting lineup for some team before too long.

I feel for anyone that's grown up following a team with a stingy owner like that. As awful and incompetent as my Mariners ownership has been at least they've shown that they're willing to spend money (and hopefully take more of a backseat moving forward). Teams like the A's and Rays amaze me with how well they can operate on such a poor budget. Shows you that there's obviously much more to the game than having a big payroll. With that said though, you wonder if teams like that can ever really make it to the next level consistently.

Yeah.. it really is a pretty sad state of affairs when your owner tells the GM that he has gone over budget by spending 93 million and he has to cut two very very valuable players in Kottaras and especially Emilio Banafacio just to trim a measily 3 million dollars from the salary to get the payroll back down to 90 million. Our owner has set a 90 million dollar limit on the team payroll.

If they're not willing to spend anymore, does that mean they're not going to even bother re-negotiating with Ervin Santana now that he's declined their qualifying offer? Wouldn't he be a far bigger loss than Banafacio and Kottaras?

Yeah, as a huge sports fan I would always follow my home team, but it's a really hard sell for casual fans when a GM like that talks about a "spending limit" and cuts valuable players in the process. I'm guessing there's a pretty big sense of apathy among the fan base?
