My black friend is on point....race and racism
virtuoso:
On 12 years a slave "give me a break man the same old bullshit rehashed, it seems like all you got to include nigger nigger nigger and throw in some slave ideas and you are revered for it. Man, if I wanted to hear nigger all day all I have to do is switch on rap music" (Cue laughter) "It's true though, you know, slavery started in ancient times, and yet they raise slavery like the only ones who ever suffered from it were black people (I add to the conversation) "yeah, I mean Irish people were sent to the caribbean before the africans", "Exactly, you British people were also slaves, you had no rights and you were owned, you were a slave, caribbean friends of mine get really pissed when I tell them one of their forefathers was a slave, as if it effected them, man, they don't realise that one of my forefathers could have been involved in the slave trade, after all, I come from a wealthier family in Ghana bro, besides, you know they pull that shit just to maintain and inflame tensions".
So later on we start talking about race....."Racial identity is not true, why do they always make it about black and white? come on that's racist in itself when it doesn't recognise chinese people (far east asians", (me asking) "So why do you think they make it about black and white"? ...."Well, they are trying to convey a message that we are all the same, we are all human but we are different species, there are defining features of a chinese person or japanese which could never be attributed to black and white people, it's dishonest bullshit.
On we all came from Africa....I ask so why do you think they tell us we all came from Africa?....."Maybe, I mean maybe, but so what? Africa is a continent where there are many groups of people, how the fuck does that suggest that whites and chinese were black people? I aint buying that, why can't they acknowledge that we have differences?, besides, you know that there have been humans in Europe for hundreds of thousands of years right? yeah and you will find a similar pattern throughout the world"
Then we started talking about other things, but ironically the most opinionated and candid conversations I have had about race have been with 2 black friends. Most white people I know are scared to death to even have an opinion, so mind programmed are they to just repeat the mantra of I don't see race, I don't see colour and all the other bullshit cliches.

Because in western countries the only races that matter are white and black. White folks and black folks couldn't give two shits about the other races.

Not true. No offense but have you been to America?
- I buy cigars from a tobacco shop ran by a Pakistani family. We have a connection to New York and have built on that and I like to hear their opinions and outlook on the world because it almost always differs slightly from mine.
- I grew up with hella Mexicans and their culture is arguably part of my culture. I learned a lot about food, family and how to take care of my home and myself by countless sleepovers at Mexican friend's houses.
- I work with a man from Taiwan and am always trying to pick up Mandarin from him. So many of our industries in the US are tied to China and it pays to show cultural understanding. Shit my grandpa spoke Mandarin and he took the time to learn in the 1950's because his best friend and fellow doctor was from China.
Honestly in America, at least the west coast where I'm from, blacks are a less integral part of our society than Asians and Hispanics.
You might think otherwise because American entertainment likes to show a strong black presence, stronger than their real life presence, out of some misplaced ethnic sensitivity and to avoid controversy by the touchy, very vocal black minority who will claim racism if there isn't an acceptable number of blacks on screen, regardless if it's a true reflection of that setting or not.
American entertainment makes it seem like life is just whites and blacks, but in real life it's a lot more diverse.

Yep, I was born and pretty much raised in New York and have spent over half of my life in America (more specifically New York City) and just came back a year ago.
Anyway, you might give a fuck about other races (then again you live on the west coast where things are "different") but more often than not black and white Americans really don't give a shit. I see it happen on pretty much on a daily basis here on the east.

That's not true.
The media will lead anyone to believe that though.
Real talk though, racism is alive and well and guess what: itll never go away. Niggas need to stop whining and using it as a crutch though. A lot of the shit on TV and in the media is giving people of color an excuse to feel sorry for themselves or to not strive for success.
