Why was DJ Quik Dissing MC Eiht on TRAUMA?
« on: April 14, 2014, 08:32:33 PM »
I was just bumping TRAUMA - a pretty decent album - and noticed that there are some lines that sound like they're dissing MC Eiht on "Ladies and Thugs."

In particular, the line "a-b-c-d-e-f NO G" must refer to Eiht (i.e., "you left out the G cuz the G ain't in you").

And there's some mention of "Eight-y" in the last verse of the song, but I don't understand what he's saying (Rapgenius gives the gibberish "86 your concubine"). What's Quik saying here?

Haha, for real? What's the whole story about this?

I thought they squashed their beef before Trauma, that's why I was surprised to notice the disses.

It's not a diss. "86" is a term for getting rid of someone or something. He's telling the girl to 86 her concubine. Basically a cooler way of saying, "Drop the zero and get with the hero". Has nothing to do with the rapper MC Eiht.

Why the "no G" line in the verse, then? And the last few lines of the verse sound like they're directed at somebody.

"I'm not a kingpin, I'm just a wing man
Strapped to the teeth with a blunt, and a green can
A-B-C-D-E-F no G
Hennessy and Olde E, we run so deep
86 your concubine, he's just an old creep
You're so weak nigga and your hoes is so cheap nigga
You can't even get a prop on your own street
I'm at the Le Parker Meridien if you wanna speak"

The no G thing may just be Quik saying that he is not a G. I mean he has made songs and statements before saying that he is not a gangsta so?

Quik is just a weirdo. Just like him saying "its DJ Q-U-I-C...my new name" on one song then "DJ Q-U-I-C-K" on another song on the same album.
"House shoes & coffee: I know the paper gone come"

Look:
Not a Kingpin (ie. I'm no super hard thug gang banger, just a regular rapper)
No G (to reinforce the earlier statement, just a regular dude)
so weak nigga (Quiks downplayed his own G status earlier on saying he's just a regular dude so to call somebody else weak now is slapping that hard ether on em)

Geddit? Shit, Quik never was a deep rapper but some of y'all make me wonder about how much reading you've done.
