Weren't people talking about him like a mid-rotation type guy? Dude's been ridiculous. Crazy how good the latest wave of Japanese pitchers have been between Darvish, Iwakuma, and now Tanaka.

i saw everyone and their mama calling him a #2 pitcher and not an ace.  Even scouts from other teams were saying this shit.  I hope they all apologize for not hyping this legendary moundsman up even more because he is the best in the game right now.  Well, at least the AL for sure.

I don't want to take too much away from Tanaka but he only looks like an ace because the rest of the Yankees rotation sucks by comparison. As a result he's become one by default.
He's a solid pitcher, one that's good enough to live up to a good chunk of his contract (not all of it, but most of it) but he'd be a number two if he was in a better rotation with better rotation mates. We'll see whether or not he's an ace based on how he adjusts to the league after the league has adjusted to him. Not just this year but in 2015 and 2016 as well.

I'll take ClayBay and Beckett all day over this guy. The Gook gives up home runs on every episode of the baseball season.

Lmao. It's one thing to take Jon Lester or Clayton Kershaw over Tanaka. It's another to take Buchholz and Beckett who've been dreadful or close to it for a good chunk of the last few seasons.

I follow the New York Yanks sometimes. Andy Pettitte is a better pitcher. I am guessing he is hurt, I couldn't see him on the win statistics.

lmao
