Stephen A. is my nigga. I thought he was being way too soft, even. Lol @ America. Seems like women are now just as protected as blacks are when it comes to speaking the real in public.

lmao way to bring race into it.
Can you blame him? He's German.

Isn't it true though? Remember when a white guy in public had absolutely no way to word any sort of non-worshipping words towards something "black", unless he wanted to committ career suicide? We're getting there with women. Just a few more years.

Outside of HAVING to suspend Stephen A for appearances sake... ESPN had to because Stephen A left it up to interpretation. His words "Let's make sure we don't do anything to provoke wrong actions."

"Let's make sure that we try to do our part in making sure that doesn't happen."

"We gotta also make sure that you can do your part to do whatever you can do to try to make sure it doesn't happen."

"We also have to make sure that we learn as much as we can about the elements of provocation, not that there's real provocation... You gotta make sure that you address it because what we gotta do is, do what we can to try to prevent the situation from happening in any way. I don't think that's broached enough."

Stephen A never clearly stated his position that a woman should not provoke a man by putting her hands on him FIRST. Of course, that's the provocation he was getting at, but he never clearly stated as such. That left it up to interpretation and left ESPN no choice but to suspend him. Had he said "Let's make sure, women, that you are also not putting your hands on a man first. Let's make sure we don't do anything to provoke wrong actions. I don't agree with a man putting his hands on a woman, but if women are putting their hands on a man, we need to address it because we can try to prevent the situation from happening in any way. I don't think that's broached enough."

That's a much more clear statement that CANNOT be misconstrued. This is what Stephen A needed to do.

^^^^ Isn't that a bit too modest? I mean, isn't it a given to defend yourself if you are attacked physically? I thought "provoke" means "talking shit" or "being a bitch". Isn't it normal so slap a bitch if she slaps you? Or is that illegal, while her hitting you is considered okay?

The idea of hitting a woman because she's provoking you by talking shit or being a bitch is probably what upset people. The idea of a man being abused by a woman physically is something that is never touched upon and I feel that is exactly what Steve A meant. I believe Rice's wife was accused of hitting him as well. This indicates to me that Stephen A was referring to a woman hitting a man.

I'm sure Rice is much stronger than his wife, but overall speaking, there are some women out there who could kill a lil skinny ass nigga physically, especially if he has been indoctrinated by that "don't hit a woman" stigma.
