I wasn't giving him excuses, or calling him the MVP. I just said he is a great 6 inning guy who should be praised for what he is; an opener. Pitchers can be praised for being great closers, so they can be praised for being great openers too.

Because he is an ace, and aces are not great 6 inning guys. An ace usually can eat up innings and shut down the opposition. A true ace is a pitcher you put up there in a game 1, they go 7-8 innings, they shut down the other team and then you have your closer end the game. Not every team has an ace. but Kershaw is advertised as an ace, he gets paid like an ace and he should be an innings eater and a shut down pitcher.
