Author Topic: Anyone here heard Viktor Vaughn's (MF DOOM's) 'Vaudeville Villain' album?  (Read 201 times)

I got Vaudeville Villain recently, and it's honestly one of the craziest, best hip-hop albums I've ever heard.  The beats are really atmospheric, futuristic and different, and you know that with MF DOOM you get some of the most abstract, clever and funny rhymes that you can hear on record.

I know that some people can be put off whenever they see any mention of MF DOOM because of his reputation as an oddball rapper, but seriously, you'd be doing yourself a disservice if you don't at the very least listen to a couple of the joints from the album.  If you're new to DOOM I think this is probably his most accessible album and is a good starting point.

Check this one from the album, called 'Lickupon' - the beat uses the same sample as B.I.G.'s 'The Warning':

No, but I like Doom's creative spirit.

I of course did listen to that doom's LP back when it went out. was a lot into Daniel Dumile's stuff at that time. the year after he blessed us with Madvillainy.
Let Me Watch and Never Dead are my favourite cuts from this Vaughn LP.
