I think you misinterpret the word "hotter", Nas is always coming with some fly East Coast slang and you being out West you might not always feel it... but by "hotter" he was just basically saying that he is a mirror and that if his homie gives him props then he also wants to return props likewise to his homeboy... and the word is operating here pretty much the same way as the sample on the Too Short track on Life After Death, it says... "Keep It Hot"... that just means like keep it ill, keep it dope, keep it nice... it's not saying... "keep it sexy"
