Since the US is beating the war-drum with Russia.
US wants to avoid a Cuban missle crisis part 2.

So they smile and forgave Cuba for now.
But tomorrow they may stab it in the back.

Just like they did with Khaddafi, they smiled and kissed him and invited him back in with open arms.
But as soon as the opportunity occurred they stabbed him in the back and killed him.
