Thanks for the positive words... and I was at the immigration office a few days ago and finally got my passport back. I'm still going to try to stick it out for the duration of my year contract if I can. At least that way I can build my resume and I can keep my life moving forward instead of backwards... my Canadian roommate who has been living here for four years had a long talk with me a week ago and he had some good ideas for me to help me manage a bit better around here...
...it's a humbling experience because I thought I was a bad-ass traveler, but I was certainly not immune to culture-shock. I also had other complications like child-support, college loans, debts from my last trip to Africa--that have restricted me financially more than the other expats that live here.

looks like a great time, soaking up the culture and sharing some good times with the locals. nothing more humbling than going to these less developed places and being with people in their own backyards. must give a lot of perspective on 'first world problems' and how our fatter wallets don't equate to fuller hearts.
