Does anyone know the reason why Pac continually re-recorded this verse? It makes you think he thought it was really brilliant or something.

I wouldn't say he "continually" did it -- half of that list was posthumous work.  But when he did like 200 other songs on Death Row, I'll let it slide.  I'd write off the Untouchable Freestyle, since it's not the first time Pac used pre-written material to kick off a "freestyle" but then continued with stuff off the top of his head, like he did with what ended up on Homies & Thuggs.

"After the fire comes the rain, after pleasure there's pain, even though we're broke for the moment we'll be ballin again" is a dope way to start off a verse though. I actually liked that he reused this verse/mixed it up on a few songs. Also I remember some people saying the freestyle was made BEFORE the actual song but that can't be the case. If you listen to the freestyle carefully with headphones on you can hear almost all of Pac's adlibs from the actual song throughout the whole track starting from the very beginning with him saying "I don't care, I don't care no more" before the beat even drops all the way up to the last thing he says "Expect me nigga like you expect Jesus to come back"

Actually, there are two Left Eye versions, the one released in her solo album Supernova with the OG instrumental and the one remixed by Tha Row Hitters for her unreleased Death Row N.I.N.A. album.
