Those who brought in these amazing beats didn’t actually produce those records. That was Dre.
Dre isn't creative (like DJ Quik), he is more of a broadener who can take someone elses creative concept and do restorative tweaks here and there, arrange some new layers of an instrument or additional vocals and really transform it into magic. Quik can do all of that too, but Quik can come up with beats in his head a lot quicker (no pun intended) without spending weeks going through old vinyl collections for inspiration and is more innovative but they are 2 different types of producers entirely to make a blanket statement of who is the better of the 2. Someone like Daz could and would put out some of his best work if Dre was involved on the entire album because Daz is a bonified beat maker. Johnny J whilst having access to all at Can Am could make some really good tracks but go and listen to his later material.
If you're looking for a source where Quik gives Dre props - it's an interview but I'm not sure which one. Definitely on Youtube.
while dre is the goat overseer, like snoop said, he is just as good at creating beats and making hits from scratchdon’t get it twisted fam

He used to play the drums though. Colin Wolfe said Dre created "Appetite For Destruction" from scratch.http://www.waxpoetics.com/blog/features/articles/musician-colin-wolfe-speaks-building-beats-dr-dre/
