I thought the man was supposed to be in control
I thought he was supposed to be the rock
And the woman backs him up and comforts him

I'm happy to obey my man unless deception is detected
And I thought the woman was supposed to be sweet and meek and modest and sincere
I didn't think we were supposed to be conniving or adhere to superficiality or materialism

I thought it was okay to be gentle and genuine

But it seems it's just this war where everybody for themselves
Can't trust each other in relationships coz everybody chasing wealth
I thought the man protects the home that the woman keeps and her labour is valued just the same as the man's is in the streets
Maybe I'm old fashioned

I don't know
