I was conducting a First Amendment Audit at the Town Hall in Ramapo, NY when I was confronted by Town employees who insisted that a constitutionally protected activity was a crime. Their ignorance led them to call local law enforcement to remove me from the peoples building. Our building! A total of ten law enforcement officers responded, as well as the town supervisor. I notice that it’s the most overweight unhealthiest looking employee that’s questions about the mask and how the guy “needs to wear a mask”. He may have a health condition or legitimate reason not to, but I found that typical, as it tends to be those who have clearly not looked after their health being the loudest when it comes to so called “health” guidance and health rules.

I counted 9 officers at one point. Here at least, the reason they pile more police bodies to what is perceived to most to be a trivial issue isn’t to over power on a potential arrest, but to all get a piece of a “crime” so that they can all equally meet a target. They all have tasers, firearms, weapons etc so there’s really no need for so many. But this is why they rarely ever do community patrols, because of said targets, but any sniff of an incident, especially a minor one that they suspect requires little effort or physical endurance, then they all rush to it like wasps to a jam sandwich because that’s 8 officers that could have got a notch on their monthly / quarterly crime target.
