i don't see anything special with the guy and songs, good songs but all songs like some "lets do "xxx" type of song" tutorials.

there are millions of amateur musicians all around the world, producing and releasings songs like these.

why this one became popular?? i dont get it.

there isn't a simple answer and there's definitely an element of right place right time catching a vibe that everyone resonates with. personally i think dude is an excellent vocalist (trained as an Opera singer) and can hit all sorts of notes and harmonies in a pleasing way over a variety of production. with Million Dollar Baby it's got that funk thing with a chopped & screwed tempo and you can hear influences from a variety of decades in there. very catchy and even a Bee Gees thing with the backing vocals, not reinventing the wheel but doing something simple that people universally enjoy very well.

if you listen to Justin Timberlake's new album he might have all the production values and producers in the world but it sounds stale compared to this. if this cat had a bigger budget he could be doing incredible records in the future. so yeah i fucks with Tommy 8)

I dont know about all these tracks. But million dollar baby is a funk hit. And it is unique. Hope he can continue that style.
