what countries in africa did you go to? My neighbor now is from the gambia and he’s honestly one of the nicest people i’ve ever met. His family was involved with the government and they all had to leave before they got killed

Yes, Gambians can be shockingly nice people—especially if you have never met one before and you catch a good one on a good day, you would be pleasantly surprised. 

I was actually there in 2017 when the previous govt was removed by force, the US Embassy ordered all Americans to leave the country a week before the African Union invaded and surrounded the state house.  I had just left a week before that.
