i prefer compton

haliaeetus albicilla:
Got a new stereo with bass and treble regulation and relatively high quality big bass speakers and i noticed most rap music is mixed with too many bass; Probably mixed for basic speakers and stereo; on the big speakers you have to minimize the bass to make it sound better. Missionary and Compton sound very good on the big speakers - the bass sounds good, and the overall sound is warm.

A little Bass and treble regulation is great for Tha Doggfather; for example with less treble and a little more bass you can make those annoying cowbells on Snoops upside ya head almost disappear. Doggyland you can add more treble. Makes me wonder what if Dre (re)mixes that album and they release a bonus ep with some of the Snoop 2pac featured songs, Midnight love, etc. For the 30 year anniversary. Snoop must have the masters in the vault.

Also bought the Compton instrumentals lp and talk about it sounds way better as one song with the intro and without the vocals; that screaming at the start. The Dre productions stand out: all on me, darkside gone, loose cannons, issues, deep water, one shot one kill, talking to my diary.

Now i think both albums are great Missionary and Compton. Only the rappin vibe on Compton is too chaotic for my regular mood. Missionary is more grooving, laid back and flowing.

Don't anticipate Dre actually dropping something

the sad thing is that it isn't about dropping/not-dropping material anymore as we've had 4 Dre produced projects in the past decade. it's more whether it would be any good which is a wild thing to say but here we are.

there's no way anyone can listen to Missionary and feel that his sound has evolved in a good way in recent years. it's only got progressively worse with his current team of producers, as has the mixing.

Sadly, this is true.  Missionary was okay, but not representative of Dre's standard.  I would love to see him work with some of the younger producers in the game, and get some new inspiration.  I loved Compton and, the GTA tracks were cool, but his sound is stalled.
