He certainly isn't a ''big and hotly anticipated'' name though, that I'd agree with.
Might as well have done the collab album with Crimeapple instead, would have been doper
Nothing new from M80 tho, same ol' half-assed approach to everything

People are not a fan of kurupt because they just started listening to him from his latest album. People are fans of him because of his breakout into the scene on DR. I'd say most kurupt fans don't care about new rap artists. I'm not slacking on hip-hop - I simply don't care about new artists because that isn't my flavor. That is like saying I'm slacking on country music, when I have never cared at all to check out country music.

Nah, not how this works at all. You said nobody has heard of Hus Kingpin at all, using that as a measure of his relevance. I just corrected your statement to ''people who have long stopped keeping up with hip-hop have no idea who he is''......In which case your measure of relevance would be just as applicable as if you tried speaking on country music
:ohwell:
By the way Hus has collabed with Crooked I, Rakim, most of Wu Tang, Planet Asia, Vinnie Paz, Roc Marciano to name a few. Maybe some people aren't as in tune with hip-hop as they believe?

You are incorrect. I've listened to the following new albums this year: Kurupt, Kurupt/Masta Killa/Rakim, Crooked I, MC Eiht, E-40, B-legit/Andre Nikatina, Snoop, Mitchy Slick, and more. So how can you say that I have stopped keeping up with hip-hop?
I have an area of hip hop that I like. There are hundreds of albums released each year. There is no barrier to entry for music these days and it is as easy as its ever been. I guarantee there are at least 100 hiphop albums that dropped this year that you never heard. So, are you saying you haven't been keeping up with hip hop?
If you want to say "I haven't kept up with the new artists who were never around in the 1990s", that is a different statement and it is equivalent to that I haven't kept up with country music. I've never cared about that.
In 2010 I never listened to new artists who were never around in the 1990s. I've never cared to get into artists that were not rapping in the 90s. I have zero interest. I've heard songs and guest features here and there and I don't think I'm missing out on anything.

I get where you are coming from, but you keep proving my point with every post. This isn't to attack you personally, I'm just stating the objective facts.
How do you claim nobody has heard of such and such artist, when you have been stuck with the same restricted number of artists for 30 years, as per your admission? You are speaking from such a limited POV that it immediately invalidates your statement about an artist's relevance because you have no meaningful reference point of relevance at all. You aren't following what's happening in hip-hop, you are following what's happening in some (however many) artists' career paths.
Following the same stuff for decades and not expanding horizons is not considered ''keeping up with'' in any profession or industry. And before you say you aren't following anybody new because you don't like the new artists - Being aware what else is happening out there ≠ liking it
