Kurupt Joins Harrison And Hartnett In 'hollywood Homicide'
Fresh film unites groundbreaking Death Row artist with Hollywood heavy-hitters.
Within the past year, legendary Death Row rapper Kurupt
has electrified audiences as a despicable thug in DARK BLUE and an amusing but dangerous inmate in the high-energy HALF PAST DEAD. However, on Friday, June 13th, the debut of the hotly anticipated HOLLYWOOD HOMICIDE will provide viewers with a glimpse at an altogether different side of this versatile performer. Portraying the only witness to the mass murder of a notorious hip-hop group, Kurupt teams with veteran actors Harrison Ford and Josh Hartnett in a raucous action-comedy helmed by renowned director Ron Shelton (BULL DURHAM, WHITE MEN CAN'T JUMP). Fortunately, the young star isn't intimidated laboring alongside such luminaries, having spent much of the past decade working with and learning from Suge Knight, the larger-than-life founder and CEO of Death Row's Back.
"It's exciting, but then again, it's also very stressful," says Kurupt, noting that his ongoing involvement with Knight--which includes serving as Senior Vice President of the recently re-launched Death Row's Back--helps him balance the various aspects of his multifaceted career. "Suge put a lot on my plate by putting me side by side with him, and he's also really preparing me to venture out and be a successful executive in this game. So
it's a lot of stress, but it's also a lot of fun."
In addition to appearing in HOLLYWOOD HOMICIDE, Kurupt is putting the final touches on his full-length album, AGAINST THE GRAIN, tentatively scheduled for release later this year on Death Row's Back, while the soundtrack to the comedy film DYSFUNKTIONAL FAMILY, currently available on Death Row Records, features his latest anthem, the aptly titled "I'm Back."
