... I'm thinking of putting out a single.

Nah, really, I was wondering this. Let's face it, if you get a Nate hook it's 90% of the way there to being a hit, so dude can charge a lot. But also, his solo shit doesn't sell, so each time he belts out a hook for someone else he must be thinking "My kids gotta eat off this til well after my album drops", which would make me jack the price sky high if I was him. Has anyone ever read how much he charges?

Good topic, it makes me agree, Nate needs to charge them because he deserves it when compairing hes solo carreer.

If Dre charges $250,000-$500,000 for a beat, Quik charges $100,000, and Mausberg said "5 G'z for a 40 second rap line" on Quik's album...

I'll guess-timate about $40,000. It's not a SURE hit just because Nate's on it, it has to be a dope song anyway, but Skillz did put a LOTTA people on blast when he was like "I ain't gotta put Nate on the hook to get West Coast love"

I never heard that! That's cold... Oh, Mak - the answer's no. I did years back but I stopped writing. Maybe one day I'll resurrect my pad and head over to the Lab, but I'd just embarrass myself there now.

People don't always just get paid flat out for a song. Mauseburg and those dudes were doin' little verses here and there, just taking whatever they could get and run.

On the major level, it works different, Nate might do a hook for J.D., and J.D. promises to give Nate a beat for his new album. Or Nate might do a hook for Missy Elliot, and Missy pays him a percentage of what the album sells. Or maybe he does a hook for Dre for a spot on the up in smoke tour. If you just flat out wanted to buy a hook from Nate Dogg, i.e. you just send him a beat, he sends you back his hook for it, he'd probably do one for 20G's or so.
