Yeah it is slow going to start off, and I don't know if having seen the new version will spoil the suprises but I'd say its definitely worth checking out even if only to compare against the version you have seen to see how much of it got used.

I found the remake REALLY scary. Spent a lot of it staring at a corner of the screen so that I didn't jump out my seat like I did at that early moment where you see the girl who died in the opening scene *shudder*
