no, what you must understand is that Jimmy Iovine is a businessman and therefore has to make business-sound decisions. look at it from a marketing angle, Interscope wants to make money, they're not gonna put this out & not make a lot of money

Most hip-hop is now keyboard driven, because the majority of hip-hop workstations have loops and patches that enable somebody with marginal skills to put tracks together,...

Unfortunately, most hip-hop artists gravitated towards the path of least resistance by relying on these pre-set patches. As a result, electric guitar and real musicians became devalued, and a lot of hip-hop now sounds the same.

I dont want to hate on Dre but I hate the fact that Rakim's album aint gona drop on aftermath now (or anywhere, anytime soon) and Dre is somewhat responsible for that.   So I wouldnt really say its hating on Dre, but Dre fucked up bigtime with Rakim thats for sure.

"Hip-hop fans dont buy albums" Ras Kass
you think everyone woulda bought it? the only reason 50 Cent & Nelly sell lots is because in addition to buying from rap fans, little kids who see the video for Hip-Pop songs buy the albums. that doesn't happen with older fans (i'm talkin like 13 +)

"Hip-hop fans dont buy albums" Ras Kass

That's a retarded statement.  If Ras Kass said that statement just like that then he is one bitter man.

How did Rakim go platnium with The 18th Letter with one video and no guest appearances?  How did Nas go platnium on the strength of a street single, "Made You Look"?

those are rare exceptions. also, the 18th Letter was released before internet downloading was as easy as it is now. its so easy to d/l full albums, the majority of the people on mirc don't buy albums and there's thousands of people who use that
