What Up TheOne... I'm glad you getting into the real hiphop shit.

If you looking for some dope underground shit(westcoast espeacially) check out MURS from the living legends. Murs is from  Mid City L.A. ... R-Tistic (our board  member) is his cousin. anywayz MURS is dope. Check out his new album called "The End Of The Beginning" ...Murs spits some shit you could relate to. Thats one of my favorite things about him.  Dude is really popular in the undergournd scene.

other shit i recommend

Phil The Agony - Hulk Steady
Self Scientific - The Self Science(Chace Infinate's lyrics are incredible)
Planet Asia - The Grand Opening (Droping september)
Aceyalone - A book of human language (from L.A.)
A Team (Aceyalone & Abstract Rude) - Lab Down Under
Wildchild - Secondary Protocol (Dope Album & he's from oxnard)

On september 9th Rasco is releasing his album called "Escape from Alcatraz" ..I can't wait for that shit. Pick it up. If u wanna look into Aceyalone download his new single out called "Lost Your Mind" ...That shits a Banger! The beat is fuckin ill produced by RJD2. ... If you wanna get into the underground scence listen to The Friday Night Flavas on Fridays Nights at Midnight. They Play the ill joints. I tape that fuckin show every week. Holla BAck!

oh yeah check out these also:
Dr.oop Capone: Mad Hue Man Disease
Company Flow: Funcrusher Plus
Non-Phixion: The Future Is Now
Swollen Members: Balance
2MEX: B Boys In Occupied Mexico
Juggaknots: Re: Release

you should hit paydirt at amoeba, when i go there the problem i have is they got too much good shit.  yeah peep out amoeba (sunset/cahuenga), aron's records (highland/sunset), fatbeats (melrose av), pennylane (alhambra, whittier, pasadena), backside records (burbank),
rhino records (claremont).  U should find most of what your looking for.  Also check out these online stores: hiphopsite.com & sandboxautomatic.com (i think someone else also mentioned Undergroundhiphop.com).  They have always come through for me, prices vary, but they usually always have dope promotional shit for pre-orders.  and yeah i'm the same way, gotta have the og's, but if you just want a sample of some stuff to see who you like or want something that's really hard to find let me know.  i think i might head over to amoeba tomorrow to pick up the new pigeon john (from L.A. Symphony) and see if they got that new DJ WhooKid/50 Cent mix CD.  peace!

it's funny it seems that hip hop listeners go through phases.  i started off listening to mainstream westcoast shit (NWA, Snoop, Cypress Hill), then i got all into underground Los Angeles shit like (Visionaries, Shapeshifters, Project Blowed) and shit from the east like (C-Rayz Walz, J-Zone, Cage) then i got back to the old school like (Eric B. & Rakim, KRS-ONE, Big Daddy Kane), and recently i have been checking out some of the thugged out shit from the east like (Group Home, M.O.P., Cormega). and from the west like (Spice 1, MC Eiht, Yukmouth).  But, it's all hiphop.  I watched part of that MTV video awards garbage and those fools have a rap and hip hop category, and neither differed!!  glad to see their still brainwashing the youth.

Well people have already mentioned the majority of the dope underground groups that I would have recommended to you. All I am gonna say is Little Brother - The Listening is straight classic and is an album you can't afford not to have.

And also, I personally tend to steer clear of any Def Jux release. EI-P is to me one of the wackest rappers known to man, and is really truly unlistenable. Some of the other guys on the label are alright, but certainly there is no real dope shit coming off that label.
