So what really changed Him?
« on: September 06, 2003, 02:11:02 PM »
im was just wondering, what really changed DJ Quik from hardcore gangsta MC Eiht Killa too more humble and party Quik

the transition from Safe + Sound to Rhythmalism is amazing, 2 totally different albums

was it the death of rappers like Pac and Biggie? was he afraid of his own life? or did he grow up and mature as an artist or something else

i mean i can understand his change, i mean he even regrets making Safe + Sound, he wishes he would have never done that album, guess he just wanted rap to be fun and partying and STAYING SAFE (ALIVE)

There was an interview/article in The Source around the time that Rhythm-Al-Ism was released.

The label switch was a change for him.  He said he wouldn't do another album for Profile Records so when Arista bought out the contract I guess he didn't have to worry about that and he could just focus on music.

There are other issues they discuss, he was almost broke towards the end of '97, Suge Knight, etc.

Try to get your hands on the January 1999 issue.  Sorry, I don't have a scanner.
