E-40 w/The Clipse - Quarterbackin (DJ Quik Remix)
« on: September 04, 2003, 08:00:30 PM »
www.westcoastaftershock.com has a few more tracks

damn good beat, it's like  :o

Most hip-hop is now keyboard driven, because the majority of hip-hop workstations have loops and patches that enable somebody with marginal skills to put tracks together,...

Unfortunately, most hip-hop artists gravitated towards the path of least resistance by relying on these pre-set patches. As a result, electric guitar and real musicians became devalued, and a lot of hip-hop now sounds the same.

How do I explain it.........it don't sound shit at all like DJ Quik production, but to me it is pretty tite, in a Neptunish, empty sorta way. I was jus hopin the beat would change up. Actually this shit sounds like Neptunes meet Tribe Called quest-type horns. If he had filled the beat up more it woulda been better, but it goes with the track nice.
