i seriously doubt soccer will ever get as big as basketball or football in any of our life times.

straight up if Pele couldn't do it in the 70's......i don't think it's happening now

maybe when theirs money there... but we dont have major league baseball or (american) football or wrestling (they tried.. ) .. so everything (money wise) is focused on football

remember we dont really call soccer much, but call it football as do most other people on the planet.

and trauma, its not just a european thing.. south america is huge on football.

the reason its so universal is that its cheap at the simplest level.

by that i mean some poor ass kid in a shanty town can learn skills by playing with a football made from a bunch of old rags. it needs no sophisticated/specialised equipment, the poor are not excluded.

Oh, gotcha.  Yeah, in america that's why Basketballs so big.  Very, very easy to play.  In the park, we play football too, with no pads or anything (urgh, american football)... all you need is a football.  baseball's a little harder, because everybody needs a glove, so you don't see many pick up baseball games, but baseball and softball are HUGE, there's leagues everywhere, you can watch a baseball or softball game several times a day in Charlotte if you know where to go.  Grown men over here play softball all the time.  It's expensive though, if you're in a league, you need clothes, bags, bats, balls, gloves.  My manager plays on a team, and his two daughters both play, one daughter plays for two different teams.  EVERY NIGHT he's taking somebody somewhere to play, or playing himself.  He routinely has 4 games on saturday to go to.
