Rapper C-Murder Convicted of Murder

By DOUG SIMPSON, Associated Press Writer

GRETNA, La. - Rapper C-Murder was convicted Tuesday of second-degree murder in the nightclub shooting of a 16-year-old boy.

The charge carries an automatic life sentence.

Relatives of C-Murder, whose real name is Corey Miller, began sobbing as the verdict was read and were escorted out of the courtroom. Women were heard screaming in the hallway outside.

Miller is the younger brother of rapper Percy Miller Jr., who is known as Master P.

Their father, Percy Miller Sr., said the family would seek an appeal. "My son didn't do that," he said.

Steve Thomas was beaten and fatally shot Jan. 12, 2002, during a fight outside the Platinum Club in Harvey.

"Now Steve can rest in peace," his father, George, said after the verdict.

Assistant District Attorney Douglas W. Freese said he was satisfied with the verdict: "I believe the killer has been put where he belongs."

Defense attorney Ronald J. Rokosky did not speak to the media following the verdict.

Before they began deliberations Tuesday, jurors were told they could find Miller, 30, innocent of second-degree murder but guilty of manslaughter in Thomas' death.

But Assistant District Attorney Roger Jordan urged them to convict on the more serious charge. "Miller's a murderer. He's a killer. He took away something you can't give back — Steve's life," Jordan said.

Two prosecution witnesses testified that Miller beat and shot Thomas. Nine defense witnesses said he had nothing to do with the killing, but gave different descriptions of his clothes and of his whereabouts within the club.

Rokosky argued that investigators botched the case, finding only two witnesses who could identify Miller as the gunman out of 150 people in the club.

Yes, sad for Steve & his family & Master P's family, but not C-Murder. He can rot in hell

Think of the boy who died.
Fuck him if he did it

100%

Think of the boy who died.
Fuck him if he did it

& thats why theres "beyond reasonable doubt".  Today in the days of DNA, there can rarely if ever be mistakes. Listen to the evidence 2 people saw it. Why would they lie. If anyone was lying it was 9 people saying Murder didnt do it but they couldnt give a correct answer as to the clothes Murder was wearing & the whereabouts in the club & stuff

The bottom line is we werent in the court. We didnt see the evidence. The jury saw the evidence, & if even 1 of them didnt believe Murder did it after all the evidence presented, then Murder wouldnt be in jail. The fact is they saw it & they all agreed he did it. He did it, & he deserves the punishment he gets & to burn in hell

Sure if it does happen (slim chance) that he didnt do it, then I feel sad for him & if its proven he has the right to sue the state & countrys ass's, but most likely he did do it so stop whining

actually, if you're matching that sample A belongs to person B then the rate of error is 1 in 37m. but if you're matching for paternety, the chances are ALOT greater.

who's whining? i agree he did it & should goto jail -- but dna can be wrong

Someone here was sayin that i would be pissed if i was in jail for something i didnt do, hell yeah i agree but C-Murder did it, there is no reasonable doubt he did it

1 in 37 million is damn near 100% guaranteed u got the right man, plus other evidence is usually shown other than DNA at trials
