California has given up on career politicians.

That is why Arnold won...any prominet actor would have won if Arnold wasn't running.

You know if Jay Leno wanted to be Governor and Arnold wasn't running he could have won.  ;) Gray Davis/Bustamante buried their own graves with the idea of giving California drivers licenses to illegal immigrants. lol they thought ese cared about people in Mexico  ;D

but i voted for davis..because i wasnt going to turn my back on someone who march with ceasar chavez... and fought for farm workers rights.. and all that good stuff.....

....and sent someone to the hospital, verbally assaulted children outside of the governor's mansion, sexually and physically assaulted woman working with him, has an explosive irrational temper, and not to mention called imigrants who wanted driver's licenses  (the first time, when he vetos the bill) quasi racial names.....oh bet you didn't know that huh

and no bustamante would be more of a joke than schwartzanegger.....how the fuck are you going to be against the recall , yet vote for Bustamante , who is part of the problem

and no California's problems didn't start with Pete Wilson that is STUPID as fuck to say.  Pete wilson was WELL out of office (for  a few years )when california problems started. Davis pussy footed around with the energy crisis, and his whole administration after his first 2-3 years started fucking up financially. Special interest spending anyone? I will admit Davis was a good governor for partially his first term. but he was no better than wilson.....go read on modern california history and you'll know what i'm talking about.

now back to arnold......no shit he has no experience in politics.......but oh wait who are his relatives-in-laws....oh shit~! the KENNEDYS.... :o , also Arnold is a billionaire business man.......he has no need to profit off this and he's great with finances .....go look it up. His inexperience is good i think.....we don't had that and look where it got us........so it was either vote in the problems (davis bustamante) again, or vote in someone who wants honestly wants to help the state. I say let Arnold prove himslf first before we start jumping on him like Davis.

and if this makes us look "dumb" to the rest of the world.......so fucking what! 22% of Britain thinks the Mona Lisa was done by Vincent Van Gogh.....again let the man prove himself before you hawk on him......who knows he might fuck us up , but look at his track record ......dude does better than well with most of the things he's accomplished

Me & you have had a disagreeable past, however I will side with u on this one. Everything you said is true. i dont think USA is dumb & anyone who thinks Arnie is a joke is just ignorant & cant see past the movies & see the other goals he has accomplished thru out his life in many different careers

Trauma-san:
I think people are misjudging what this victory means; like I said, he didn't win because he's an actor.  That certainly helped, but McClintock, a republican, even got 13 percent of the vote.  Bustamante only got 30 percent; without Arnold, McClintock probably STILL would have won.

Arnold didn't run on any liberal beliefs; this election was about fiscal issues, and california was simply looking for a fiscal conservative, they're tired of Senate members and governors that don't know how to stop spending.  Also, say all you want about Wilson, but when he left office, California had a surplus budget, which Davis promptly spent.

Simply put: California felt it was time to elect a republican.

lol...you idiot.

Goerge W. Bush got his way...thanks to his buddies at Enron.
Thanks W for turning your back on California so a Republican can be elected.

Arnold is not a McClintock republican...so its all good but California can carless about parties.
