Roy Jones vs Antonio Tarver...Who watched it?
« on: November 09, 2003, 10:33:28 AM »
Watched the fight last night and was real dissapointed in Roy Jones Jr...He kept backing into the corner and Tarver was pounding Jones with some good shots.

Jones ended up winning the fight in a 12 round decision, where one of the judges actually called a 114-114.  After the fight, Tarver thought he had won and was extremely shocked of the decision.

Ive never seen Jones get hit like that before.  His eye was half shut and bruised up pretty bad during the later rounds.

Even tho I was dissapointed in Jones, it was a great 12 round fight.

Gotta say it was one of Roy Jones worst efforts yet he still won by decision.

If im not mistaken Jones Jnr had to lose upto 25kg for that fight and that would have affected him dearly, i don't think any other fighter could do this.

Roy Jones Jnr is a true champion, best pound for pound no doubt.

The weight was the reason he was so poor.
U can not go from Heavy Weight to Light Heavy and expect to be ok.

He put on muscle not weight to go up to heavy and believe me to get rid of that to fight at 2 weights below is gona fuck U up.

Jones was definitely suffering from weight issues. You could just look at his body, especially the arms and it was obvious. I think the judge that scorded it a draw was smokin some good shit, because eventhough Jones wasn't up to par, I believe he controlled the majority of the fight.

Jones says he just wants to fight Tyson, and his career will be over.

Tarver took it...

Whats fucked up, is Jones almost DEFINETELY will not fight him again. Good for his business, bad for boxing. He'll run back up to heavyweight for a big payday...against an old Tyson who hasnt beat anyone thats even worth mentioning. Tarver would be a good fight again, and could probably beat him (again!), but Jones wont make such a big payday like a Tyson fight. Oh well...
