Yeah I got that newsletter too. I was wonderin' which new Shabazz album they were talkin' to drop next year. Shabazz just released his debut a few weeks ago. 2003 was a tight year for Battle Axe, with dope albums by Swollen Members, Shabazz The Disciple and last but definitely not least Son Doobie 8) I think there were other releases too, but I didn't hear them yet. But it will definitely be hard to top that year in 2004 :D We'll see...

In 2003, battleaxe dropped:

Moka Only "Flood"
Moka Only "Lowdown Suite"
Mr. Brady "Dirty"
Swollen Members "Balance Instrumentals"
Swollen Members "Heavy"
Abstract Rude "Showtime"
Sunspot Jonz "Don't Let em stop you"
Shabazz The Disciple "Book Of Shabazz"
Son Doobie "Funk Superhero"
Sweatshop Union "Natural Progression"
DJ Drez "The Capture of Sound CD"
Brassmunk "Dark Sunrise CD"
The Oddities "The Scenic Route CD"
Swollen Members "Bad Dreams Instrumentals"
Lyrics of Fury 2

That's 18 Cd's in one year.  IMO Battleaxe Doesn't Get The Respect It Deserves.

DJ Drez "The Capture of Sound CD".
If you like that, check out Voice Watson. DJ Drez did some shit on his album. I got an update about him on dubcnn.com.

I didn't count the instrumental-discs from the Swollen Members. But I thought this discs I listed beyond were released in 2002, that's why I didn't mention them. But I do have them, so I'll have to add them to my list ;)

You can listen to quite a bit of it at www.battleaxerecords.com

If you like Dialated Peoples, you'll like most battleaxe stuff.  Most of the artists are from either LA or Vancouver.  Evidence produced a few joints on the new Swollen Members CD.  Alchemist and Buck 50 are like best friends lol.
