In all European countries people have the impression that U.S. might be one of the best countries in the world, but we also know that politicans, police, Feds, C.I.A., Pentagon etc. etc. is keeping pretty much on the hush.
The political scandals refuse to end, and C.I.A., Pentagon & F.B.I. decides the subject of TV-series and movies, to make themselves look good.
There's a flip-side to everything, and there's pretty much of them over there.
It also seems like the typical self-confident American answer to say "U.S. is #1"
It's just seems a little TOO "Bush".

Japan in the top 10 best countries?

They've came a long way.  Before World War 2 they were oppressing countries like China in the middle of the century, making desperate, brutal, raw power moves to expand and gain power.  Then they got wiped out in World War 2 by America's atom bomb, and now they are back on their feet again.  Interesting, aren't they communist?  I always wondered what it would be like to live in a communist country.
