The Return Of Truth In Hip-Hop! GuerrillaFunk.com

It’s 2004 - Peace and Happy New Year to all!  Thanks to all
supporters, and welcome new subscribers!

Music News:

The success of “Sonic Jihad” has done exactly what we
originally intended it to do - galvanize people disgusted
with hip-hop and entertainment as it is presented by
corporations, and those who are sick of the propaganda, lies
and the current political climate both in and out of music.
That success has allowed us to move forward with the next
stage of the Guerrilla Funk Counter Attack - new music!

(NOTE: WE ARE NOT SIGNING ANY ADDITIONAL MATERIAL.  PLEASE
DO NOT INQUIRE.)

1. Guerrilla Funk has just reached an agreement to
manufacture and distribute an exclusive, Paris-produced
Public Enemy album entitled “Rebirth Of A Nation.”  As many
of you know, Public Enemy rewrote the rules of hip-hop,
becoming the most influential and controversial hip-hop
group last century and, for many, the definitive rap group
of all time. Selling millions of records along the way,
Public Enemy pioneered a variation of hardcore hip-hop that
was musically and politically revolutionary.

Public Enemy has had many major successes, but it was their
2002 release “Revolverlution” which found the long overdue
pairing of the group with fellow revolutionary hip-hop
artist Paris on the remix of their lead single. That effort
set the tone for the collaboration between Public Enemy,
Paris and Dead Prez on Paris’ current album project, “Sonic
Jihad.”

Now in the summer of 2004, Public Enemy is set to once again
blow up the spot. Available exclusively through Guerrilla
Funk Recordings, “Rebirth Of A Nation” is an exercise in
controlled chaos, as Paris pulls out all of the stops to
present his finest work yet for what is arguably the most
important hip-hop group ever.

2. Guerrilla Funk has signed T-KASH to release his debut
album, “Afterparty Music.” After honing his skills on Bay
Area revolutionary hip-hop group The Coup’s projects “Steal
This Album,” “Steal This Double Album” and “Party Music,”
T-KASH is set to unleash his magnum opus, “Afterparty
Music,” on a world now weary of commercialized gangsta
fables and the prostitution of hip-hop.

Featuring production work by Paris, “Afterparty Music”
employs verbal assistance from both The Coup and Paris,
among others, and stands as a project that promises to play
an essential role in the resurgence of quality hip-hop
outside of the corporate box.

But there’s more:

3. Paris has re-teamed with The Conscious Daughters. For
their debut album, The Conscious Daughters (TCD) approached
Paris, who signed them to Scarface Records, his first
independent venture. “Ear to the Street” went on to sell
over 300,000 copies. Their second effort, “Gamers,” was
released shortly thereafter and sold over 200,000 copies,
entering the Billboard Chart with a bullet.

Now The Conscious Daughters again are poised to bring heat
on Paris’ latest venture, Guerrilla Funk Recordings, with
their third effort, “The Nutcracker Suite,” which features
themes of self-empowerment and sisterhood with their
signature hardcore edge. By featuring world-class guest
appearances and raw-edged production work by Paris and Rick
Rock (producer to Jay-Z, Ice Cube, 2Pac), “The Nutcracker
Suite” is packed with head-noddin’ beats that compliment
TCD’s in-your-face style of rhyming.

A necessary compliment to the Guerrilla Funk family, this
crew of dope female MCs provides a sorely-needed female
perspective in hip-hop that rarely gets the attention it
deserves.

4.  Hard Truth Soldiers compilations will be released this
year, and Volume 1 promises to make considerable noise.
Already committed are Paris, Public Enemy, The Coup, Dead
Prez, Immortal Technique, T-KASH, Kam, The Conscious
Daughters, MC Ren, and Zion-I, with more to come.

5. The Deluxe Edition Reissues of the classics “The Devil
Made Me Do It,” “Sleeping With The Enemy,” and “Guerrilla
Funk” will be available on January 27th on CD and limited
edition, 2-disc gatefold vinyl. They have all been remixed
and enhanced by advances in technology previously
unavailable. These limited editions are a must for all
supporters, as they are part of the foundation of
socially-relevant hip-hop and represent raw truth in music
rarely heard anymore.

6. New Limited Edition “Freedom” single vinyl is available
at Guerrilla Funk, and features rare artwork with Paris,
Dead Prez and Public Enemy!  Order your copies today while
supplies last!

7. “Sonic Jihad,” the long-awaited album by Paris, is
available now at www.guerrillafunk.com and in retail stores
worldwide. Vinyl is also available, and comes in a limited
edition, 2-disc gatefold set. Only the street version is
available, and supplies are limited, so pick up your copies
today!

I'll definetly be going to se him once he gets to Canada.

Most hip-hop is now keyboard driven, because the majority of hip-hop workstations have loops and patches that enable somebody with marginal skills to put tracks together,...

Unfortunately, most hip-hop artists gravitated towards the path of least resistance by relying on these pre-set patches. As a result, electric guitar and real musicians became devalued, and a lot of hip-hop now sounds the same.

Dope news. Can't wait for that new PE album.

But why does it not mention the UK on the list of european countries he is visiting on his tour? Why do west coast rappers always go to Germany loads and never the UK? Hopefully when it says including those countries it means that those are the main countries he is doing shows in and that he still will come to the UK, even if it is only for one show.

CRAFTY
