NASA can't communicate with Mars Spirit rover

Wouldn't that be some shit, if they were like "We only have enough power to go 20 yards, what is that partially buried black object over there???? SIGNS OF CIVILIZATION!!!! Lets go for it, lets find out what it is!!!" and then spend all the rover's energy getting over to it only to find out it's the piece of shit britian launched up 2 days earlier, lol.
