Mos Def - Album news + single snippits
« on: January 22, 2004, 01:30:58 AM »
After the collapse of Rawkus and their deal with MCA, Geffen have decided to take over the release of Mos Def's upcoming LP titled "The New Danger". The album is likely to be released sometime between february and april.

A 12" single has been released with (I'm guessing what will be) the first single released from the album.

The first cut is a track featuring Ludacris called "Jump Off", which is definitely on a party vibe. Not really feeling Mos reusing Snoop verses, but we'll have to see what the rest of the track is like when its leaked.

The B Side features the vocal talents of Vinia Mojica, and from the snippit I'm definitely feeling this track more, although once again its on a bit of a party vibe.

Both tracks sound like they are the work of Black Jack Johnson, which hopefully at least means the new LP will have a consistant sound. However I'm hoping for something a little bit better from the rest of the album when it drops.

I hope it's as good as Black On Both Sides, a 4.5/5 album IMO. Thanks for the news.

Most hip-hop is now keyboard driven, because the majority of hip-hop workstations have loops and patches that enable somebody with marginal skills to put tracks together,...

Unfortunately, most hip-hop artists gravitated towards the path of least resistance by relying on these pre-set patches. As a result, electric guitar and real musicians became devalued, and a lot of hip-hop now sounds the same.

Being a LAKER is a privilige. Unfortunately some "Lakers" have forgotten that.
