Jay, Sharon wasn't a politician in the early 80s. He was a soldier. In fact, even the PLA has admitted the rumours about him massacring refugees was bull. He won far too many victories against Israel's enemies, it seems, to allow his reputation to go unstained by them.
BUT...He is simply aggravating the situation, and knowingly. He's no politician. He's a soldier, and that mentality remains.
