Sony, Scared, Makes room for Nintendo.

No PSP until 2005?
 

CNN/Money reports that Sony is quietly saying its portable won't be ready this year.

Many gamers got a bombshell with their morning coffee today when word began to spread that the PSP might--might--not be released until 2005.

In his "Game Over" column today, CNN/Money game-industry correspondent Chris Morris is reporting that Sony has quietly told American and European developers, publishers, and retail outlets not to expect its combination game deck/media player any time this year.

As of press time, Sony had not commented on the column. However, Morris offered the following, somewhat cryptic quote from SCEA spokesperson Teresa Weaver: "The reason we pushed it out here is we wanted to be sure there's a reasonable amount of software titles to launch with hardware."

According to Morris, Sony plans to still launch the PSP in Japan in fall of 2004. The staggering between Sony's domestic and international debuts would be similar to the seven-month gap between the PlayStation 2's Japanese and American launches.

The delay would also mean that Nintendo's controversial dual-screen DS portable won't face any competition if it launches late this year.

This is obviously Sony making room for Nintendo's "DS" system, which will of course be huge competition for them.  so, they just let Nintendo have their moment in the sun, and then they can bring theirs out months later to avoid direct competition with Nintendo...












Just kidding, but I think Nintendo will probably push theirs back too, both systems will probably come out in like february, Nintendo maybe later than that, they're always overly optimistic with their system release dates.

Yes, X Box is a very good system, and so is the PS2 and the Gamecube.

I like all three systems, but I think the PS2 is the weakest. It's been a long while since I've played it.

As far as actual power, I think the ps2 actually is the weakest.  They have a lot of nice games though.

true gamers don't say another system is better than the other, they just play for the games.... i don't mind any of the systems, i own them all plus a good gaming computer...

if i want a game that can be played on the computer and i want it to have the best graphics possible, i buy it for computer... EX. morrowind, star wars KOTOR, neverwinter nights, warcraft 3......

if i want a game that would be easier to play with a controller and i want good graphics, i buy it for the xbox...true crime, halo.....

if i want just a fun game i'll probably get hours of gameplay from i buy it on game cube....
legend of zelda, metroid prime, SSBM timesplitters 2

and if i want a game just to try a new game and no other system has it i get it for ps2.....
