Want to find God?  Then FAST!!!

<< < (3/3)

Trauma-san:
Latter day saints fast too, Once a month, usually, but you're supposed to whenever you have a particularly trying time, or question you need answered, or whatever.  The deal is this: Your body's physical needs are so demanding, that usually we walk around caught up in our urges, and we can't think clearly.   But if you fast, It puts everything in perspective, since it helps you more clearly see your problems.  We have fast & testimony meeting every first sunday of the month, it's a trip.

On saturday, everybody eats breakfast, then skips lunch and dinner.  We don't even drink water, just NOTHING.  Then, you wake up sunday morning, and head to chutch.  We take the sacrament (just a crumb of bread, and a vial of water) to remember Christ, then the Bishop turns the time over to whoever feels like coming up and talking.  Usually, people are waiting in line to go up and talk about what they know about god, and what they feel prompted to say.  It's a trip, I really earn a lot each month from those folks.  I haven't gotten up the balls yet to do it.  There's always grown men up their balling like a baby, and girls talking about how much Jesus has done for them, it's crazy.

Afterwards, we have a big dinner, all the women cook all this great stuff, something different every sunday.  It's really a trip, really, really fun, as boring as it sounds, it's awesome.
Peace~

--- Quote ---why would u fast to remind u how fucked up ya life was?
--- End quote ---

If I don't remind myself of how "fucked up my life was" I will fall right back into the trappings that made my "life fucked up"
